Climate change volunteer placements in Pacific Island Countries

The Australia Pacific Climate Change Partnership (APCCP) is managed by Palladium and funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

The focus of the partnership is to improve Australia’s support for climate change action and disaster resilience in the Pacific. As a member of APCCP’s science communication panel, ClimateABILITY’s Director Amanda Amjadali and her former team at PSS identified agencies in the Pacific that would welcome and benefit from the placement of a qualified representative of the Australian Volunteer Program (AVP).

Through a comprehensive desktop review they identified at least 5 national agencies (Government and NGOs) in 14 Pacific Island Countries and 5 regional organisations for AVP placements. PSS engaged local consultants in several countries to assist with this work and to confirm the interest of organisations in placing Australian Volunteers.
